Believing is Belonging

Welcome to the Church of the Assumption. We are a Roman Catholic Parish on the Saugatuck River in Westport, Connecticut, founded in 1876 as part of the Diocese of Bridgeport. Currently there are approximately 1,600 families who are members of our parish community.

We gather on Saturdays at 5:00pm and on Sundays at 7:30am, 9:00am (Family Mass), 10:30am (Choir Mass), 12:00pm and 5:00pm for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Daily Mass is Monday- Saturday 7:30 am. Our faithful and dedicated lay ministries make our spiritual life and growth thrive.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, Documents of Vatican II, and our recent diocesan synod form the written foundation of our parish life and spirit. We take our direction from our Holy Father Francis and Bishop Frank.

Our people and priests are warm, friendly and compassionate. We have a very effective and active Finance and Parish Councils. We work hard in our outreach to the poor through charity and our Social Concerns Ministry. Our Religious Education Program, directed by Cathy Romano, currently has 568 students, pre-K through grade 8. We have an active and growing Youth Ministry headed by Michele Harding.
